Dublin Cultural Toolkit Survey

Dublin City Council, through our Dublin City Development Plan, is committed to protecting and growing cultural infrastructure throughout the capital. As part of this commitment Dublin City Council’s Arts Office has been embarking on a process to create updated guidance and a new toolkit to support the continued delivery of important cultural infrastructure.

The City Development Plan, released last year, contains new policies which require some new large scale commercial and residential developments to provide space for community and/or cultural use as part of any planning application.

Our aim is to better help developers understand and navigate these policies, which will mean a better return on investment when it comes to cultural infrastructure. We now want to hear from people involved in the sector so we can create a Developer Toolkit and Guidance Reports to support the application process.

This survey will be vital in understanding any current gaps or areas where more work is needed. It takes around 15 minutes to complete, and your input is incredibly valuable at this stage. Click the link below to start the survey.

What happens next?

We are aiming to launch the new guidance in the new year, and a workshop process will follow the survey for developers and those involved in the cultural sector.

Pre-registration for Developers/their Agents for these workshops is included within the survey and your interest in this is much appreciated.

Our research so far

Over the last three years, Dublin City Council has been undertaking a number of studies around the city including an assessment of the wider provision of Arts and Cultural infrastructure across the Dublin.

You can browse the Cultural Infrastructure Study here.

An assessment of artist workspaces in Dublin was also undertaken in 2020 and these reports are available to read here.
